Something Wicked: The Macbeth Video Game

Something Wicked is a video game adaptation of the Norwegian invasion from William Shakespeare’s Macbeth.  The visuals and game mechanics of Something Wicked derive from the Bayeux Tapestry and from Shakespeare’s text itself, an aesthetic argument that links this digital-age adaptation to the analog storytelling of its source material.

A free PC/Mac download is here. A mobile version is in development.

I conceived of, prototyped, and creative directed Something Wicked, hiring and managing a cross-institutional team to create the digital assets and code. The game was supported in part by a Segal Design Fellowship.

Something Wicked was featured in the 2017–18 exhibition PLAY UP!: Queens, Pixel Monsters and Dragon Slayers at the Museum of Applied Arts in Cologne, Germany. Click here for our part of the print catalogue.

Additional press coverage of Something Wicked can be found on the News page.
